Title Hoplands, Boston Road, Sleaford: Archaeological Excavation
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2009

Abstract/Summary

Archive for an archaeological excavation conducted on land at the Hoplands, near Sleaford, to mitigate the impact of a residential development on known archaeological remains. A Late Iron Age to Roman roadside settlement was recorded, along with the remains of a substantial cobbled road and six wells. Three inhumation burials and a fragment of human skull (recovered from the backfill of a well) were also encountered. It was decided to leave a number of layers of archaeology preserved in situ beneath the modern construction horizon.
