Report on a fluxgate gradiometer survey, conducted to inform proposed residential development on land at Middlefield Lane, Gainsborough. Extensive magnetic disturbance thought to have been caused by modern disturbance and late post-medieval farming activity was recorded across the site but no anomalies thought to relate to significant archaeological activity were identified. Subsequent trial trenching on the site confirmed most of the recorded magnetic anomalies as being either modern disturbance or the result of late post-medieval farming activity (see ELI13579). No archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered.
