Full Description

Probable traces of medieval ridge and furrow were identified in this location in December 2015, during a magnetometry survey conducted to inform proposed residential development. The remains were recorded as magnetically weak, linear anomalies, aligned on a north-east to south-west axis. {1} A later scheme of geophysical survey to the immediate north recorded a probable continuation of the features, although it is noted that the remains are less apparent in the north. {2} Subsequent trial trenching over the combined area of the surveys revealed the below-ground remains of north-northwest to south-southeast aligned furrows across the whole site. {3}{4}
