A geophysical survey was conducted to inform the proposed construction of a bungalow on land at Smithy's Yard, Eastville Road, Toynton St Peter. Four linear anomalies representing possible drains, ditches, or tracks were identified in the northern half of the site. A large area of magnetic noise across the southern half of the site, likely caused by recent burning and modern waste in the topsoil, may have masked the presence of other anomalies. {1} Subsequent excavation of the site (see ELI14764) revealed an Iron Age pit, a possible Early Medieval enclosure system and a possible 13th-14th century demolition spread. A residual Neolithic flint blade was also recovered.
