Description

A brief photographic survey was conducted to inform the proposed conversion to residential use of Cagthorpe Hall, Horncastle. The building is a former Particular Baptist chapel dating from 1767, later used as a Salvation Army Headquarters building. It was converted to use as offices in 2010, with alterations made at that time including the replacement of the corrugated iron roof with Welsh slate. The investigation showed that some historical fittings still survived inside the building, including the internal chapel balcony (now largely constricted by the inserted office floor directly above), further gravestones from the original graveyard now mounted inside, and a large decorative ceiling rose in what is now the first floor. {1}
