Description
The archive on a trial trench evaluation, consisting of two trenches, undertaken at 1 High Street, Tattershall. The work was undertaken prior to a proposed commercial and residential development. Trench 1 revealed several horizonal or dumped layers, containting medieval and post medieval pottery sherds and ceramic tile fragments. A north west to south east undated gully was uncovered at the northern end of the trench and extended beyond the excavation limit. The Second trench revealed similar horizontal and dumped layers, containing post-medieval material. A large subcircular feature was revealed in the south west corner of the trench and was identified as a pit. The pit contain multiple fills interprtated as deliberate backfilling.
