Abstract/Summary
Archive for a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording conducted on groundworks for a new toilet block and servery at St Denis' Church, Silk Willoughby. Exterior works comprised a 64m x 0.3m trench, within which only post-Medieval levelling deposits and the current topsoil were observed. The interior works consisted of the excavation of a 2.75m x 1.3m area of the tower, where a site sequence of stone slabs overlaying a mixed hardcore and a sand and gravel deposit were observed. A small area at the west end of the north aisle was also excavated and the same sequence was observed. No archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered.
