Abstract/Summary
Archive for a building survey conducted by Allen Archaeology using photographs taken by York Sills as part of a structural survey undertaken in June 2014. An 18th century building of coursed limestone, under an oak roof structure covered by reed, lath and plaster, with mud and stud partitions. The public house was expanded in the 19th century with the addition of outbuildings, possibly a stable and coach house. These were demolished in the late 19th/early 20th century. The main building was also extended to the east and southeast in the 19th century. Further additions of a kitchen extension and new toilet block were added in the late 20th century. A fire partially destroyed the building in 2007.
