Full Description
Geophysical Survey was undertaken on land off Church Lane, North Rauceby in March 2013. The results suggest that an early linear feature was later replaced by a series of enclosures that probably extend beyond the survey area. These were interpreted as possible stock enclosures or field systems. A later phase of activity is evidenced by a large rectilinear enclosure measuring over 130m along its north-west to south-east axis and about 80m north-east to south-west. This very large enclosure was associated with a number of magnetic anomalies suggestive of internal divisions, areas of activity and possible structures, one of which may have been a stone structure. The site was interpreted as complex multi-phased Romano-British farmstead site with features including former ditches, enclosures and pits. {1}{2}
