Full Description

This building was formerly the Great Northern Hotel, associated with the nearby Horncastle Railway Station. It is now in use as a private residence. {1} The building is laid to an L-shaped plan form, and is of two storeys, with a six bay front. It is constructed of red brick laid in Flemish Bond, under a hipped slate roof with two lateral and three ridge chimney stacks. One bow window is to the left of the entrance, which has a Neo-Classical door surround. There are seven 6 over 6 sash windows with decorative stone lintels. A gable scar on the west end of the north elevation shows where another building previously abutted the hotel. {2}{3}
