Full Description

Baptist chapel built in 1845, for a section of the Fleet church. It is constructed of red brick with a painted render. The gabled roof has a covering of modern concrete tiles and has overhanging eaves with wooden box guttering. The building is single-storey, and has a three-bay north front with a pedimental gable formed by raised bands, containing a small rectangular shuttered opening. Below is a central round-headed doorway flanked by tall round-headed windows with glazing bars and radiating heads. Between the windows, above the door, is a pedimental date stone inscribed 'BAPTIST CHAPEL 1845'. The paired doors, which have four recessed panels, have a fanlight with radiating spokes above and are approached by two steps with scrolled handrails. A lean-to annexe to the east has a small semi-circular headed window with fixed glazing bars. The west side has three tall round-arched windows with glazing bars and radiating heads with coloured glass. The interior has a curved west gallery with fielded panels, supported on slender columns.
