Full Description
Probable site of a former brickworks, thought to have produced some of the bricks used in the construction of Doddington Hall in c.1600. Numerous flooded pits and two raised areas thought to be former clamp bases are located in this area, in the field known as Donkey Close. Many fragments of broken brick and burnt clay have been noted in the rabiit scrapes in this area. {1}
Remains of the probable former brickworks are clearly visible as earthworks on lidar data of this area, including several probable former clay extraction pits and possible kiln sites. {2}
