Full Description

Earthworks of a probable Second World War searchlight battery, to the west of Gilbert's Plot, Doddington. The site appears to comprise two circular searchlight positions or gun emplacements, measuring 10m and 20m in diameter, a building platform measuring 10m long, and a trackway linking the platform with the smaller of the circular features. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} All of the earhtworks appear to have been removed by modern ploughing activity, and no trace of the site can now be seen on the Google Maps aerial imagery layers. {2}
