Cropmarks of three circular features, thought to possibly represent former ponds of unknown date, on land to the east of Eagle Hall Wood. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} A more extensive pattern of cropmarks was noted on a post-Second World War aerial photograph of this area. The photograph showed a group of possible linear features and enclosures, showing as dark lined cropmarks. {2} Subsequent, more detailed analysis of aerial photographs of this area identified an extensive number of geological features and periglacial fissures across much of the study area, and did not identify any features of clear archaeological origin. Some of the previously identified features are therefore likely to be of natural, geological origin, though some archaeological activity may still be present here. {3}
