Full Description

Cropmarks of a probable triple-ditched medieval boundary and enclosure, to the north of Waterhill Wood, Brocklesby. The main boundary feature is defined by three ditches with low banks, running for approximately 550m, and closely following the Brocklesby (Lincolnshire) and Habrough (North-East Lincolnshire) parish boundary. The feature turns north at its western end, where it continues as a single ditch for about 60m. A section of double-ditched boundary runs perpendicular to this section for about 25m. A likely associated rectilinear enclosure is visible to the immediate south, and approximately half-way along the visible, main triple-ditched boundary. This enclosure appears to be connected to the boundary by an extension of its western side. The boundary and enclosure features have similarities to presumed prehistoric triple-ditched sites elsewhere in Lincolnshire, though a emdieval date for these features is thought more likely. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
