Full Description
A Neolithic stone axe was found in 1969, on land at Kettleby Carr, Bigby. It measured 6.4" long, with a width of 2.9" at the blade and 2.1" at the butt, and had a maximum thickness of 1.5". The axe had been flaked though had only been ground superficially, apart from the blade. The artefact was thin-sectioned and thought be a group VI Langdale type (though has been incorrectly reported in several places as being a group VII type).
