Full Description

The 18th century manor house was destroyed by fire in 1841 and rebuilt in 1856 by James Fowler. {1}{2} Dalby Hall is a Grade II listed small country house. It was built of stock brick in the 18th century, then rebuilt in 1856 after destruction by fire by James Fowler of Louth, for J. W. Preston. {3} To the northeast of the hall, a north-south aligned range of outbuildings extends to the north. This range is single storey, constructed of stock brick on the public facing south and east elevations and red brick on the west elevation, under a pitched hipped roof. This range appears to have originally been a stables, with stable doors and bullnose brick pillars in the west elevation leading into the courtyard north of the main house. An extension was added to the south end of the range in the late 19th century, reputedly designed by Lushington Temple Moore and completed in 1898. This extension has since been demolished to make room for a modern orangery. Significant internal alteration has taken place in the 20th century, with part of the range converted into a kitchen and larder - the latter room has extant iron hooks in the ceiling for hanging produce. Appended to the north of this range is a large red brick cart shed/garage building. {4}{5}
