Full Description
Fragments of cinerary urns and partially burnt human and other bones were described in the early 19th century as being 'frequently ploughed up' in a field called 'Ringlands', located roughly 1.5 miles north-east of Donington on Bain. {1}
Ringlands is believed to be the field now known as Darwong, located roughly 1.5 miles east of the village, at c.TF 261 826. The exact date of the material is not known, with suggestions of Roman and Anglo-Saxon origin suggested. The proximity of known Bronze Age barrows in this location might also suggest a prehistoric origin for the material. Some historical confusion has placed the site at Donington near Spalding in some references, though it is clear from Allen's original reference that the site is near to Donington on Bain. {2}{3}{4}{5}
