Grange Farm, Bucknall. Partially extant 19th century historic farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. There is a horse-shoe shaped pond here that has been interpreted as a possible moat. {1} The placename 'Grange' could possibly indicate an earlier, medieval use of the site. Historic mapping has also suggested that the horse-shoe shaped pond to the immediate north of the farm buildings may be the remains of a possible medieval moat. Later analysis of aerial photographs interprets the pond as more likely being of post-medieval date, however. {2}{3}
