Full Description

Trial trenching in 2018 encountered a possible palaeochannel on land to the west of Dalby Road, Partney. The basal fill of this feature was an organic waterlogged peat, an environmental sample of which yielded wild species including Fools Water Cress, Daisy, and Marsh Thistle, as well as tree bud scales of elm and ash. No dating evidence or cultivated species were recovered. The upper fills of the feature appear to consist of windblown silts. {1}{2}
