The mortuary chapel at North Kelsey cemetery is believed to have been built in 1889, very shortly after the cemetery is thought to have been established (see MLI127117). A public notice by the North Kelsey Burial Board appears in the Stamford Mercury in March 1889, asking for tenders for the construction of the chapel to be received. The chapel is first depicted on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey County Series map of 1907, where it is labelled as being a general chapel for all denominations. The building is rectangular in plan, and is constructed of red brick with a steeply pitched slate roof. Brick buttresses are visible on the side elevations. The doorway is located in a brick porchway on the western gable. {1}{2}{3}
