Description

A magnetometry survey was conducted on 13.1ha of land at High Field House, Ancaster, to inform the proposed construction of a solar farm. Two areas were surveyed. In the southern area, a north-south aligned rectangular enclosure was encountered, within which was a complex series of sub-enclosures. To the north and south of the enclosure were more ditches that respected its alignment; these may represent contemporary field boundaries. In the northern area, a single north-south aligned trackway was identified, consisting of two parallel ditches 6m apart. Possibly field boundaries or drainage ditches extended out from these ditches at right angles. {1}
