Description

A programme of trial trenching was undertaken on land at Clay Lake, Spalding, prior to the development of the Biomass Plant on this site. Six trenches were excavated, measuring 30m x 1.8m. A backfilled pond was identified in Trench 5, and contained deposits containing post-medieval pottery. Two late post-medieval to modern ditches associated with agricultural drainage were identified in three of the trenches. No further archaeological features or finds were identified. {1}{2}
