Description

Ten trial trenches were excavated to evaluate the potential archaeological impact of a proposed new housing development on land at Grantham Road, Waddington. The trenches were targeted to investigate a geometric pattern of magnetic anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI13127), and confirmed that they were all the result of the natural fracturing of the underlying limestone geology. A small and highly abraded sherd of probable medieval pottery was noted in the topsoil of trench 1, but was of too small a size to be analysed in detail or add meaningful information on the area. No other finds or features of archaeological significance were found. {1}{2}
