Description

Report regarding a magnetometry geophysical survey east of Spilsby as part of the planning requirements for residential development (including associated infrastructure and green space) undertaken in May 2015. In addition to the piecemeal ridge and furrow observed across the site, two areas of particular interest were identified, a possible Iron Age or Roman enclosure system in the south of the site, and an area of pitting and ditches in the west. Later excavations suggested an Iron Age date for the enclosures, and medieval date for the pitting and ditches.
